You finally finished it! All I can say is WOW! An awesome camera. It looks great, I will be looking forward to seeing some of your work posted. I recently got a Toyo 4x5 view camera with three lenses, a bunch of filters and a load of holders. I have managed about six or eight sheets of film so far. I need a better setup for developing my film. Keep up the good work. You might want to post your stuff (including photos of your camera) on the Large Format Photography Forum http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/

Thank you for sharing.

Hello,

Nice to see that the camera build went well. I found your site recently and have been watching to see how it came out. It looks great. I understand the bellows building process. It is one big experiment. While the one(s) I am building are not as big as what your 8 x 10, I am appreciating the process. I am rebuilding bellows for a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 graflex, shot through with pinholes. Can't wait to finally actually build the final product. Right now I am constructing models from poster board and brown package wrapping paper, figuring out the correct configuration that will work. More like minor tweaks in the design. I get to work on my forth updated design this weekend. Plus other projects as time permits. Well, have fun, I'll keep a look out to see how the whole kit shoots.

Regards,

Looking forward to the next / last part... and I hope you post some shots taken with the camera too.

Your work looks of a very high standard. I remember the shoddy crap I produced in wood when I was at school and am envious of what you have achieved.

I, too, would love to know if you finished this project. So far it looks to be a beautiful camera.

I'll be starting a 4x5 camera project in the near future, and I'm sure I'll be reviewing your pages again for inspiration!

Did you make the knob on a lathe?
What is the thickness of the wood you are using?
Also, what will keep the focusing rack attached to the base but movable?
Thanks,

Jeremy

Hey, I ended up at your blog the other night while searching for camera construction. I've been interested in this for a while. I'm a third year college student (2nd year art school student) majoring in sculpture and art history (hopefully). Your camera is amazing and your blog is very inspiring! I hope to construct a similar camera, although I will probably have to wait at least a semester and possibly a year. However, the wait gives me plenty of time to research designs. I may try to start with a 4x5 camera, I don't think I am as ambitious as you. Currently, I am trying to get back into small metal work.

I think I could write down a hundred questions to ask you about this project. On an unrelated note, I think the one sentence I hear most at art school is "I suck so much at math!" You are a physics major, correct? How much wood shop experience did you have prior to this project? And your metal work is great!

I apologize if my comment is all over the place, I don't know where to begin with what to say.

Beautiful camera! Very helpful! And very inspiring!

Did you finish the camera? I see your last entry was May 10, which sounds like its at the end of the school year.

Anyways, if you wouldn't mind me asking you some more questions, shoot me an e-mail.

Timorales@gmail.com.

Thanks and good luck!
